A close friend of mine lost his mother to breast cancer about two years ago. He said the hardest part for her was loosing her hair. He is a female impersonator and he was able to help her out by getting wigs for her - at a reasonable price - that looked very natural. His mom complained that the wigs available to her through the local cancer foundation were extremely expensive and she was embarrassed to go out in public with a hat on all the time. My sister is a breast cancer survivor and I remember what she went through to find a suitable wig. The price was around $250.00 and the cost was not covered by insurance. After her passing, he started a fund and a yearly event that provides top quality wigs to the local cancer center where his mom was a patient. He has been able to work with a local costumer and they allow him to purchase wigs at cost. The first year he had just over $500.00 to spend and was able to donate around 20 wigs. While the event is getting larger, I would love to help him out with a gift of 250.00. He has shown me pictures of these ladies after receiving the gift of their wigs and the smiles are enough to melt anyone's heart. As many as he has helped, there are as many more that were not fortunate enough to receive a gift of a wig. Please help me bring some sunshine into these lovely ladies lives at a time when they most desperately need it.
